Lotus Lodge is helping Colt in Phnom Penh,

COLT stands for Cambodian Organization for Learning & Training. COLT wants to improve the conditions and opportunities of Cambodian street children and orphans. We do this on a small scale basis, as we do not believe in large organizations with a lot of overhead. We give the children a safe shelter, education and vocational training. Of course the children are being taken care of by giving them three daily meals, clothing and medical care.

COLT was originally established in 1999. Back then the name was different: SCCO, Save the Cambodian Children Organization.

In 2006 we changed the name for two reasons. First, there was another organization using a very similar name. Second, two Dutch nationals, André Ruys and Menno van Essen,  who came into contact with the orphanage found out the structure of SCCO could be improved.

So, under a new structure and a new name, the organization now works with renewed energy to improve the lives of poor Cambodian children. As a result, the number of children being taken care of has been drastically reduced. We had to, because of insufficient financial means. We believe that, based on this small scale, we can better work for our cause and improve and strengthen COLT and its development.

Nowadays, we give  26 children a new future in Colt and more then 160 children from the neighberhood get english and computer lessons.
